Riot was so impressed with the work that they asked Fortiche to make an animated series, which took several years to create. After the release of the first season, Riot announced that a second season was coming, and that it would take less time to produce. (Destin Route). Arcane tells the story of two young orphaned sisters who grew up and got into trouble in the twin cities of Zaun and Piltover. The series is based on the video game League of Legends, and while it takes you straight into that fictional world, the locations and characters are set up with commendable and restrained time and care.
The animation is downright polished
The solid character development and world building means it’s a thoroughly enjoyable watch that knows nothing about the game. As an anime fan myself, I found Arcane’s animation to be more than anything I’ve ever seen from an animated series. There’s incredible attention to detail.
It’s clear that no artistic or financial expense was spared in bringing the world of Runeterra to life
A great soundtrack, great acting, and a gripping story that pulls no punches when it comes to violence and added adultery. Themes has only released the first three episodes so far, and I can’t wait to see what else is in store!
