Nate Busko has spent 12 of his 17 years running from the past
Fed up with being shuttled from one foster home to the next, he now lives out of his car, eating corn husks for dinner and taking showers during track practice.

Enter Stan Deen, a popular high school drama teacher who’s dealing with his own problems
He sees Nate’s latent talent and need for attention and guidance that no other teacher has seen and sets out to help.
But in a shocking development, Nate is arrested in the middle of school and taken away in handcuffs
Stan follows Nate to the police station and not only arranges bail, but agrees to take Nate into his own home, despite the raised eyebrows he receives from his fellow teachers.
Stan is willing to do whatever he can to help his troubled student
