Story
World War II nurse Claire Beauchamp Randall is mysteriously transported back in time to Scotland in 1743. There she meets a Highland warrior and is drawn into an epic rebellion. Moore (the series’ developer), his staff decided to keep the Gaelic words instead of translating them into English. This maintained the first-person narrative, showing Claire’s inability to understand Gaelic.
The opening song changes from season to season to reflect what is happening in the storyline
The idea was suggested by producer David Brown, who said he saw something similar in the foreign alternative film Skin Deep (1998), starring actor and singer Gustavo Goulart. In several episodes, characters say "OK."; an American term that did not come into use until the 19th century. In the first half of season 2 (which is set in France), some of the lyrics are in French. In the second half of season 2 (mostly about preparing for war), a militaristic drum roll is added to the opening theme.

Tribal drums are added in season 3, as most of the season is set in the West Indies. In season 4, bluegrass fiddle and banjo are added, and some of the lyrics are sung with a Southern accent, as the season is set mostly in America. Skye Boat Song(uncredited) Traditional Scottish air by Sir Harold Bolton with new lyrics by Robert Louis Stevenson. I was late to discover this series, and managed to get through it all in season 7A in a month.
But my god the beginning of season 3 was so boring
The first 2 seasons felt like a completely different show, which kept me hooked and wanting just one more episode. I know a lot of people don’t like Richard, but man, I love him as Roger, he brings a realism to the character for me. However, Sophie comes across as trying too hard to play a spoiled child as an acting student. Her scenes are so painful to watch and there is zero chemistry between her and Richard, and who came up with that terrible accent?
